FOR ADULTS

In partnership with NYC’s own Sign Language Center, we offer free adult ASL classes for all families and staff. Fall 2022 schedule coming soon. Classes are online via Zoom. Email to sign up.

Located in NYC, the Sign Language Center offers both online and in-person classes for all levels. Instructors are all Native Deaf from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
SLC is the only Deaf-owned ASL school in the nation. The owners also happen to be former PS347 parents!

Free video classes for self-study from Dr. Bill Vicars, a Deaf ASL professor at California State University. The curriculum is based his university classes and is a great way to start at your own pace.

SignOn connects the hearing and Deaf communities through virtual interactions that allow ASL learners to communicate one-on-one with a Deaf ASL Ambassador. Users can choose what to practice, from basic vocabulary to daily conversation.

“Sign It! American Sign Language Made Easy” is an online, self-paced course taught by many well-known educators and entertainers from the ASL community. The complete curriculum has 50 lessons that teach conversational ASL (vocabulary, sentences, grammar, and syntax) and Deaf culture.

FOR CHILDREN

Since 1967, ASDC has been supporting parents of children who are deaf and hard of hearing. There are many resources on their site, from a database of signed children’s stories to teen and adult online Asl classes.

As the hearing mother of a Deaf child, Rachel Coleman wanted to created a fun and easy way for children and family members to learn ASL. Signing Time offers fun musical lesson for all ages. Paid membership is available, but most videos are also on YouTube for free.

ASL Nook is a series of ASL videos made by a Deaf family. Videos cover everything from basics like alphabet and colors to all the signs for Disney characters.

The Gallaudet Children’s Dictionary presents more than 1,000 ASL sign drawings, as well as English sentences for each sign. this is a great ASL reference volume all children.
